What is the dart throw line distance?

What is the dart throw line distance?

The standard dart throw line distance is 7ft 9.25in, or 2.37m, from the face of the board. This line is called the oche.

Measure from the board face, not the wall. This small detail is where plenty of home setups go wrong.

Official throw line measurements

Measurement Imperial Metric
Board face to throw line 7ft 9.25in 2.37m
Floor to bullseye 5ft 8in 1.73m
Bullseye to throw line diagonal 9ft 7.5in 2.93m

How to measure the throw line

  1. Mount the board at the correct height.
  2. Drop a straight line from the board face to the floor.
  3. Measure 7ft 9.25in out from that point.
  4. Mark the oche with tape, a mat or a raised line.

Why the distance matters

If your oche is too close, practice will feel easier than proper match darts. If it is too far away, you are making the game harder for no reason. Get it right once and you are sorted.

Setting up a proper board? Add a surround and oche mat so your home setup feels closer to match conditions.
